Course Description: Tap Dancing is the joy of hearing the sounds and rhythms you create with your own two feet. You are a dancer and a musician so why not add singing! This class starts with a warm up, learning and practicing steps and combinations only Broadway show tunes from beginning to end. After the warm up we will learn choreography using a Broadway musical sound track. For musical theatre lovers with a little Tap Dance experience or for accomplished Tap dancers who want to take on the challenge of singing and dancing! Students will be in a Tap Dance studio so tap shoes are allowed If you don’t have tap shoes it’s fine to wear sneakers! Come tap your life!
About the Instructor: Marie is a professional dancer, signer and dance teacher with 40 years experience. Performing in more than 3000 shows over 4 continents. She has studied in Montreal, New York and Paris. She holds a diploma from the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association with the mention Highly Commended. Her greatest happiness and highest achievement in life is the ability to stir in students the joy of dance that animates her life. Whether it is Waltz, Cha Cha, Broadway or Tap there is no more euphoric experience than moving your body through space to great music.
Marie believes that everyone can enjoy dancing and have their life enhanced through dance. In her classes, she aims to inspire joy, teach technique and introduce choreography in the context of laughter and fun. While she will guide and correct, she would not make her students feel self-conscious or criticized.
Dance and music have been her life’s work and enduring passion. Nothing brings Marie more satisfaction than sharing that passion with her students. For that reason, at the end of every class she will say: “Thank you for dancing with me.”
