Course Description: Welcome the oncoming of spring with stimulating, dynamic and heat-building Vinyasa Yoga! Vinyasa means, “To place in a special way.” It is a breath-to-movement practice, which aims to still the mind by speeding up the body and connecting deeply to the breath.
This practice will help students decompress and re-educate both physically and mentally after a
long week, semester or winter season. One will be able find places to pause and stretch deeply,
or choose to create continuous flow. Vinyasa is as gentle or vigorous as the practitioner wishes,
nourishing stiff joints during the colder months.

Using the sequences as a guide, we will thread yogic philosophy throughout the series to
explore the wisdom embedded in what is seemingly a purely physical practice. We will cultivate
physical strength and stamina to meet the demands life puts, not only on our bodies, but our
emotions, ethics, and intelligence. After heating up during the practice, we will cool down into
deep relaxation, and allow the stresses of life to soften and melt away.

About the Instructor: Kelly Davis in an artist and yogi who originally hails from British Columbia, Canada. Her fascination with the mechanics of the human body has aided explorations in multiple disciplines of yoga and meditation, professional-level training in acting and contemporary dance, as well as the study of diverse somatic practices such as Body-Mind Centering and Laban Movement

She has been inspired by the power of the system of yoga to transform her own life, and its
ability to heal past traumas, afflictions and addictions through consistent practice. Kelly has a
passion for teaching, and believes in the power of creative physical expression to inspire people
to live to their full potential. She encourages students to settle into themselves to hear and
experience the sensorial wisdom of their own body.

Kelly strives to develop an accepting atmosphere that will stimulate and challenge students of
all levels to work from a deeper place of healthy, integrated self-knowing. Her aim is to invite
students to be their own teacher, and move into a fuller expression of their physical, mental and
emotional selves.
